Session 3 Summary - Warnings and Discoveries
The party continued the ritual with Nualia’s spirit, managing to calm her anger. She delivered an ominous warning: “Not all who have plagued Sandpoint lie still, and new enemies work in the shadows. I do not wish these seven dooms upon Sandpoint, but one does, and that one hearkens on red wings. Unless you can delve the Pit in time, you will not escape his fires.” With the ritual’s successful completion, the party earned the cathedral’s admiration.
Afterward, our heroes explored different parts of Sandpoint. Ner visited The Hagfish tavern where, through clever tricks, she managed to drink the notorious hagfish water and earn her name on the ceiling. Variel took up residence at the Rusty Dragon as a storyteller, while Y conducted research at the Turandarok Academy with Ilsoari Gandethus.
Their activities were interrupted when Lyra, the Desna acolyte, frantically sought them out. Father Abstalar had been put on trial at the Sandpoint town hall, accused of conducting an evil ritual by summoning Nualia. The heroes successfully defended him before the council, proving his intentions were pure, though this public defense made them well-known throughout town.
The party then spoke with Shayliss’s mother, learning of a spree of gruesome murders that had claimed Shayliss’s sister Kathrine. Her mother expressed concern that Shayliss was rarely home anymore.
Intrigued, they followed Shayliss after she finished work at the town hall, tracking her to the harbor district where they lost sight of her behind some houses. Though they couldn’t find her, they discovered an entrance to a tunnel network. Following this passage, they encountered a masked vigilante who introduced himself as Shroud, who requested their assistance in clearing out a shrine deeper within the tunnels.
