Session 2 Summary - Ancient Secrets and Restless Spirits
Continuing their exploration, our heroes ventured deeper into the tunnels beneath Sandpoint’s graveyard. After hearing Goblin speech beyond a barricade, a sudden spell erupted from the other side, incinerating both the barrier and an undead goblin.
The party quickly defeated the so-called “fire demon” terrorizing the goblins, with Y identifying it as a follower of Abraxas. They recovered a cultist’s cowl and garnet beads that later proved crucial for bypassing traps throughout the ruins.
Their exploration revealed an ancient map showing a drastically different coastline, with their location marked as “HF” and the Pit clearly indicated. Further in, they discovered a statue of Runelord Alaznist, confirming the ruins’ Thassilonian origins under her domain of Wrath.
Through ash-filled corridors, they encountered three combusted undead surrounding an artifact called the “Hellstorm Focus”—a powerful Thassilonian relic.
Upon returning to Sandpoint Cathedral, they assisted with Nualia’s summoning ritual. Outside, Charn Scarnetti led protesters demanding they stop, prompting the party to barricade the doors rather than engage the mob.
As shadows gathered around Adrahni and Abstalar during the ceremony, Y’s prayer to Nethys successfully banished them. When Nualia’s spirit finally materialized, both clerics fell into trances, leaving them vulnerable. The ghost fixed her gaze on Abstalar with an accusatory tone: “I remember you… why did you call upon me… you hated me… you all hated me…”
